VASTU VIDYA

VASTU VIDYA

what is Vastu vidya?

This can be defined as a Sanskrit term for a Vedic architectural system that is important in both yoga and Hinduism. It's been compared to architecture's version of yoga. Vastu vidya is a vast knowledge system of architectural designs that date back to ancient India and combines both Hindu and Buddhist ideas. Hindu temples, as well as the layout of towns, gardens, houses, stores, and public areas, were designed using ancient Vastu shastra principles.

The goal of Vastu vidya is to ensure that architecture is in harmony with and incorporated into the natural environment. It aims to bring a balance of the Five Elements into architecture, which yogis believe make up the universe. This is thought to aid in the flow of positive energy and harmony within the structure.

Vastu vidya is a system that integrates classical science, astrology, and metaphysical beliefs. It takes into account the sun's and moon's effects, as well as wind direction and the earth's magnetic field. The building's intended function must also be incorporated into the design.

Significance of Eight Directions

We have four cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West) and four intercardinal directions (North, South, East, and West) (North-west, North-east, South-west, and South-east). Each direction represents a different part of life and is ruled by different gods.
While money is found in the north, dharma is found in the south. Prosperity and overall success can be found in both the West and the East.
Few Basic Principles of Vastu Shastra

SHAPE: Your home's rooms should ideally be square or rectangular.

ROOM BASICS: Airy, well-lit, bright, and clean rooms are ideal. This guideline also applies to the room's corners.

HOME CENTRE: An empty space should be in the center of the house.

STAIRS AND FURNITURES: Heavy furniture (almirahs, for example) should be kept towards the southwest. Building stairs in this manner is a smart idea if you're going to build a duplex house.

GATEWAY OF THE HOUSE: The main door should be stronger and larger than the other doors in the house, and it should be constructed of teak wood if possible.
Keep the area outside your main door as dark as possible. Keep in mind that positive energy is always associated with bright and cheerful environments.
Garbage bags, undesired items, and shoes should not be left at the main entrance. We don't want guests to cringe as they approach your home.
Check to see if the main door opens inward. To avoid creaky sounds, lubricate the hinges on a regular basis.

KITCHEN: Maintain a safe distance between the water sink and the gas stove.
Place the refrigerator in the kitchen's southwest corner.
Never have your kitchen face the toilet or share a wall with it.

DRAWING ROOM: For prosperity, place an aquarium on the north or east wall.
In the southern wall, there is a brilliant picture of a sunrise.
Walls are painted in yellow, green, beige, or blue to provide life and vibrancy.

BEDROOM: Place the main bedroom on the southwest corner of the house.
Sleeping with your head in the north is never a good idea.
To maintain excellent health, avoid rooms with overhanging beams.
Instead of hollow wrought-iron beds, use substantial timber beds.

STUDY ROOM: For the study table, use a square or rectangular shape.
Place the table in such a way that no one has to face a blank wall or a window.
Maintain a north-east, east-east, or west-west orientation for the table.
It's advisable to stay away from bookcases that hang from the ceiling.

It is thought that using Vastu Shastra principles in the construction of a home can change people's lives. Within one's home, Vastu compliance can bring about happiness, good health, prosperity, and mental joy.
